This is for every teacher who refuses to be blamed for the failure of our society to erase poverty and inequality, and refuses to accept assessments, tests and evaluations imposed by those who have contempt for real teaching and learning.

I was highly impressed with this announcement, www.oms.nysed.gov/press/SEDAwardsEDPContracts.html - particularly with the statement, "The EDP will bring these resources together into one site that can be enhanced with additional local school and district data and instructional materials that support improvements in teaching and learning."
Bravo, NYC, for rolling out the CC in a thoughtful and openminded way.
I just had my new teacher induction and they taught us how to implement the CC. I'm looking forward to doing so in my classes. I believe it will enable my students to become academically literate in a new world. I believe it will enable them to keep up with international students who far surpass us in educational performance.
If teachers want input into education policy, follow the Department of Education. I do. And, I have contacted them directly, and they have replied in a very positive way. Arne Duncan welcomes input from teachers. www2.ed.gov/programs/teacherfellowship/index.html
There are ALWAYS openings at the Department of Education in Washington D.C. Many positions require teaching experience and a credential. Here is the website: www.ed.gov/jobs
I apologize for not being angry and pissed off at everything. I want public education to survive. I don't want to keep hammering away at it from every angle.
