I posted this to the main BAT group on Facebook for those that do not understand having multiple platforms of discussion.
As an admin of the BAT forum and noticing the occasional disgruntled FB group member because of a push to move some topics to the forum, I would like I make some comments.
The "push" to the forum is because certain topics are not open for discussion or debate for the reasons that have been stated throughout the group and in the Files section above. It is an option for those that wish to get involved in topics that have been deemed "off limits" on the group page.
It is understandable that some people are not familiar or do not like the forum format. That is okay. No one has to use it. However, members of FB group must understand the rules set forth by the founders of this group (as have been stated and can be read in the various documents linked at the top of the group page) and accepted them to be a member.
No it does not mean you have to agree 100% with every ideological point, but you do have to accepted that this is a private group and subject to the rules set by the founders. Just as being a member of any group/organization whether that be online or in person.
It is true that there are only 385 registered members on the forum, but that should not discourage people from engaging. If you do not wish to be part of the forum that is okay, but do not let lack of membership prevent you from getting involved. If that were the case then the FB BAT group would never have reached almost 27K members in just a few short months. Certainly not every single one of those 27K are actively posting (and sadly not actively involved in BAT Actions, but that is another issue).
There is also the fact that there have been and will be moles in this group. If such a thing happens in the forum it is easier to contain and does not "poison the well" of the Action group.
It is my personal hope that the FB group will be maintained as a "war room" in order to organize efforts and that the forum will be a place of open discussion without prejudice. But that is just me.
Sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to help people understand the purpose of the forum versus the group. Thank you for your time reading this long post.
