How do we support excellent BATs in Charter school system?

Is Common Ground profit or non profit?

My school is technically a "charter" - we opened in 1977 with our own charter as a school of choice for the "alternative" student. We still stand on that wonderful original charter when we find our program challenged or when we ourselves consider changing our program.

But we are part of public school district, we are union, and we work with the same contract as all public school educators in my city.

The only profit we make are the students who eventually graduate and become productive adults.

Wonder where those charter school supporters are?

Total BadAss charter school teacher here. I will tell you that I am uncomfortable when talking to public school teachers if they know this as we are seen as the enemy. I work where I work because three years ago when I finished my certification I looked for 7 months and this was the only available job and I am too old to go back to waitressing (though it would probably pay better). I work every day to make my school the best it can be for the kids we attract with limited funds, supplies and support. I have finished my ME and now public schools will not touch me. Rock/hard place/no respect inside or outside. It is a precarious position to be in. I enjoy living indoors and eating food but I am against the charter school movement as a means to privatize the education of our children. So conflicted.
