Policy: Moderating Threads and Behavior
Minor Offenses
A minor offense includes, but is not limited to, circumventing the language filter, a single ad hominem comment, publicizing private information (people's addresses, phone, et cetera), restarting a locked/deleted thread, and posts about the group name.
Mod Procedure:
Mods will:
The procedure will be repeated for additional offenses, each time adding 1 to the warning level.
Upon the receiving the 3rd warning, the member will receive a temporary ban (for one week), then immediately report as before.
It takes a minimum of 3 members of the mod team to overturn a temporary ban. If 3 admins/mods agree that the temporary ban is too much, then the ban will be removed with an additional warning level added to the user. This procedure will continue each time with each future warning.
Warning level will decrease by 1 point every 6 months.
Major Offenses
A major offense includes, but is not limited to, Spam, creating a thread that is entirely ad hominem, hate speech, "anti-posts" (religion, race, sexual orientation, disabled, et cetera).
Mod Procedure:
Mods will:
It takes 3 members of the mod team to overturn a permanent ban. One of those members must be an admin.
Language Filter:
We do believe in and encourage open discussion with as little censorship as possible. However, please understand that some words have been censored to help maintain a civil atmosphere (such as the infamous "f bomb"). Please do not try to circumvent the filter and just use common sense when choosing your words to avoid the filter.

Mod Procedure:
Mods will:
- "Warn" offenders by adding 1 to the warning level box.
- A short message is sent to the offender explaining why they are being warned and, if need be, what action has been taken.
- If possible, the offending post will then be edited to remove the offending material. It will show a statement such as "Post edited by mod to remove material in violation of board policy."
- Then a short post in the admin board is made so all admins/mods are aware.

Mods will:
- Ban member with no expire date (permanent ban)
- The offending thread will be moved to the "deleted threads" board in the admin section. A purgatory for threads/posts in case future reference is needed. No thread is ever permanently deleted. If it is a single post, then only that post is moved.

This policy will be continually revised and updated, as needed, to better serve our community. This thread is locked. If you need to discuss board policy please contact an admin. Admins and mods are listed under the link "Forum & Group Info" at the top of the screen.
